Got mid-bass? I don't.
I have dynomatted the piss out of everything and installed Infinity 60.5cs 6.5" components in all four doors and running a Soundstream 500.4VG amp. The sub-bass is taken care of with 1 JL12W6 ported with an Alpine MRD-M500 amp. Now the sticky part. I have essentially 20ish-60Hz taken care of and roughly 90Hz on up taken care of. I'm missing 50-100Hz of strong mid-bass. I tried to cover it with an Alpine type-R 10" in a seal .6ft^3 box pushed with another Alpine MRD-M500 amp. The 10" just drops off to low and I don't think I can get an 8" to do any better. Everything is running off a Nakamichi CD45Z headunit. I need a solution to round off my system so I can button everything up for good. I'm considering a couple of 6 1/2" midbass drivers (where to mount problems). Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I think Infinitis have accurate sound reproduction, but in my experience have not produced solid mid-bass. I put JL Audios in all 4 doors and have GREAT mid-bass and they're only running off 2 60x2 RMS amps.
I think some midbass drivers would probably solve the problem. Depending on whether you like midbass upfront or rear, you could replace one of the pairs of Infinitis with midbass drivers.
I personally like midbass upfront but to each his own...

your components should handle the midbass department.. you might want to look into getting some better components like diamond audio hex or focal utopias... and why do you have your sub cutting off @ 60hz... my sub handles from 20hz thru around 80hz and the components pick up 80hz to 20khz...

davey73,
I was just looking on-line at the boston pro 8". I think a couple of them might work in the vol I have for the 10" type-r. Does anyone have experience with the 8" drivers?

If you are thinking about putting the 8" in the trunk, that probably will not be good. The small cone area of the 8" sub will make it hard to get enough bass to penetrate through the seats and fill the cabin. If you are talking about putting them somewhere in the cabin, I think that would be awesome.
I have Boston Pro in one vehicle and Diamond M6 in my TL. Both provide good midbass from 6.5" drivers.

not to mention that your imaging will be way off.. your mid bass should come from the front.. i would have to say get some 3 way compoents and get the q logic kick panels for the 98 and up accord... put the woofer in the kick with the tweeter and put the mid in the door.. i have heard one person with a tl that has this set up and it sounds outstanding...

fun03TLS,
What are you crossing the infinity's at? Set them to High Pass around 70-80Hz since you have a nice sub. It should help it a bit. If not, you need to get some better speakers that can keep up with that 12W6. Also, that soundstream VGA you have is supposed to be really sweet. I would get a pair of 6.5 components from the likes of focal, diamond, cdt's, or bostons for the front stage.

This is why I keep stock speakers in the door. Stock speakers have a tendencey to sound boomy or heavy. I power them heavily, add a crossover to control bad sound, and add an expensive tweeter. If they blow it costs me minimal to replace. I've done this successfully 3 times and never blew a speaker. All my systems tend to have a very full sound due to this.
