Getting "ERROR" Message With Alpine Head Unit....(yes i searched)
so this is the first time i've seen this out of the 5 alpines my friend and i have owned (he had 3, i've had 2. all different models). i'm listening to the CD and i go to change it. the new one won't play and the unit says "ERROR" right after "DISK READ". presumably it can't read the disk so i try multiple disks with the same error message (both burned and factory made, no scratches). my lens cleaner disk wouldn't run either. it seems like it's just not spinning the disk on startup. a few days later it began working again and then crapped out again this morning.
anyone else see this issue? should i break it open and take a look or just trash it?
Thanks for the help!

I had the same problem with my Factory radio, I drive an Acura TL, My problem began when I used a wrong CD, probably a pirated copy. No one appears to know how to fix this. Has been like that for six months, Trash it.

well mine is beginning to work intermittently and i am quite nearly sure now it's the motor that moves the laser along it's track to move from the inside to outside edge of the disc. i highly doubt it would be worth paying to fix that after shipping and costs and what not.
i'll probably just hook my 6 disc changer to it and use it like that until i have time and money to get a new unit and do a real install using all outboard amps and new components.
