Gas Strut

Some memebers have asked about replacing the torsion bars with a gas strut. I have done this, but do not really recommend it because I could not find a strut small enugh, nor did the placement work too well the first time. In the picture you will notice a silver bar that is used as an extention, this is so the trunk opens and closes properly...I tried to mount the strut there, but it is too long. Another problem is the left side needs a strut even shorter than the right, so it didnt work out too well.

Anyway here is the pic for all of you whom are curious.

Kinda looks like mine. I ended up drilling and tapping furthur down on the curved arm to gain enough stroke.

Acutally this is not a bad start. Once the strut is in, then there will be a way to motorize it.

If you find a linar actuator that is short enugh, let me know! I've been looking for one, but cant seem to find it anywhere.
