Footwell Lighting
Im going to install neons under the driver and passanger footwells and also under the seats for the rear passangers.
I want to install them to so they light up when I open the doors. That is not going to be a problem because I will tap it into the dome light.
Here is the real question.. I want to be able to put a switch inside so I can turn on the lights while im driving....

I would use a SPDT relay.
I would connect
terminal 86 to ground
terminal 85 to domelight wire positive source
terminal 30 to constant power source
terminal 87 to the to the neon positive wire
terminal 87a to a switch then also to the positive of the neon.
If you do it correctly, the relay should behave like:
when you open the door, the dome wire will energize the coil, terminal 85 and 86 and connect constant power from terminal 30 to the neon through terminal 87. At this point, when you open the door, doesn't matter if you have the switch on or off, the power won't route through 87a but to 87 instead
When you close the door, there is no power to terminal 85 so the relay won't energize the coil, power from terminal 30 will then be connected to terminal 87a. At this point if you have the switch on will turn on the neon or off to not turn on the neon.
I would connect
terminal 86 to ground
terminal 85 to domelight wire positive source
terminal 30 to constant power source
terminal 87 to the to the neon positive wire
terminal 87a to a switch then also to the positive of the neon.
