fm modulator

well, I have a Mp3 player and I want to hook it up to my car stereo. And I know there are the straight aux connections but I don't want to spend that much on a wire nor do I want to pull out my stereo to hook it up. So instead I was wondering if anyone could recommend a fm modulator. I just tried this belkin one and it sucked. Are there any other ones that are better?

There are really only different flavors of suck.

I advise a video company. We've improved them a lot... but I still hate FMMs.

The only one that I will EVER use (at this point in time anyway) is the Icon digital piece - it transmits about 20 - 25 feet away so the signal is nice and strong. It blows away all other FMM's on the market, guaranteed.

And if we had a Democratic administration, it would merit fines from the FCC on Icon of $10K per offense... but we don't, so don't worry, the FCC is busy chasing Janet's boob off of TV, so you can use this one.

Ron is referring to wireless FM transmitters/modulators... Meyer and Davis has a similar one out here.

If you are in a car next to a car with one of these, you can often pick up their FM transmissions. But if you are getting interference from a radio tower with kilowatts of power, you are still hosed. Typically wired FMMs reduce that kind of problem almost entirely... but they are a pain to install, and insert some signal loss that decreases receptoion slightly, mostly in the AM band.
