FM modulator

I am trying to integrate the FM modulator in order to run XM. I know that I should get the auxillary adaptor for sound quality, but right now, I have a modulator. In order to work a modulator , you have to run the existing vehicle antennae in series through the modulator.
Right now I have removed the screw behind the hazard light and the screw on either side where the trim stops. My radio, (I do not have the Nav Package) will not come out. It feels as if the top is still locked into the dash, but the bottom moves a bit.
Does anyone have any recomendations on how to remove the Audio stack and get to the AM/FM antennae, so I can install the modulator?

PS Should I spend the money for the extra quality installing the AUX adaptor, even though i already have an FM modulator?

Greatly Appreciated,
Allen

I had the install of my Alpine system with FM Modulator done by Best Buy for about $50. I really don't trust myself and if they break ANYTHING during the install, they will pay to replace it at no charge. Because I have the Alpine unit with a 6 cd/mp3 changer I have to wait till Feb time frame to get an adapter that'll work for both from Blitzsafe. If you have a Delphi or something along those lines, I'd go with the adaptor from Soundgate. I seem to get a whine coming from the speakers that matches engine rpm with the modulator. I'm hoping that I won't have that problem with the adapter. Good luck either way Oh, if it makes a difference I have the non-navi also....damn wife....wish I got the navi
