Fixed my radio issue on my head unit
I was on a caraudio site yesterday when someone mentioned to me that he needed a deck to play MDs. I told him about myu deck, and we started getting into a conversation about the Japanese radio frequencies. In New Zealand it looks like all Japanese cars are imported straight from Japan with the radio unchanged. They have a device that plugs in to the power antenna and changes the frequencies from 76-88mhz to 88-108mhz. I did a search on ebay, and I found it for $20. Just wanted to let you guys know, if by any chance you buy a Japanese deck, there are cheap options out there to fix the issue.

i would suspect that a little more is needed because ur basically changing the whole FM demodulation spectrum. kinda tough to believe that a small external unit esp. on the antenna can change all that.
what's the link?
and ps. that's kinda cool. because i remember when i was in Japan checking out all the head units there, there'd be these HUGE signs saying "The products will not work outside of Japan because of radio frequencies." i was just like... heck, i don't listen to radio that much anyway.
but if you really found a solution and it works... then great!
