Alright, as you may know I have a '99TL and I am about to take on the large task of installing a whole new stereo.

I do have a few last min. questions. I keep reading about the possible moisture problems with the door speakers and crossovers. Is it bad to mount the crossovers in the trunk? I have read that it is bad to have the length of wires from the crossover to the speakers to be long, does it really matter that much? Also if anyone has pics on how they took apart the dash, back seat, or doors that would be greatly appreciated!!! my email is newman8350@aol.com if anyone could email me some virus free pics of their install. Where did everyone mount their tweeters? Up by the mirrors, in the door itself - by the door handle, or just right by the midrange speaker? I plan to use the Focal 165 V slim components for the front and rear, how much cutting of the metal will I have to do? The overall mounting depth of these speakers is just less than 2.5 inches so I shouldnt have a problem with depth. Ok thanks again

I mounted my crossovers on the opposite side of the speakers. There is a large "hole" in each door. Just built some custom brackets on it.



As far as tweeters go I just mounted the tweets by the mirror as u said.

 

I mounted them in the trunk, left side. I have had no problems.

Anyway, How much are the focals? I am looking to get a new set-up in my car when it gets back from the body shop.

Way to put it together...the OU Sig part....

Well as it turns out, I do not need one of my pair of the Focal components and I may be getting a different amp (getting rid of the Kicker KX800.4), both are brand new and still in the plastic. I would sell the Focals for $275 for the pair and the amp for $300 if anyone is interested. Email me at newman8350@aol.com and we can work something out.
