fast blinker

so i recently cleared out my headlights and i put in some led sidemarkers and turn signal bulbs to replace the originals, everything lights up and works fine but my blinker goes real fast like a bulb is burnt out. has anyone else had this problem or tried using leds in our cars? i think its doing it because the leds use so much less current that the car thinks the bulb is burt out but im not sure. any suggestions or ideas?

I don't think I have your answer, butttt, it may be the BULB itself. My friend had me help her install blue highbeams on her FORD mustang, and then she asked me why her turnsignals were acting up. She turned one side on and it was blinking fast, the other one was blinking normal. she SWORE they come from same box...i dunno? fuse box? maybe?

NO I DONT THINK IT WOULD BE YOUR BULB THE L E D LIGHTS RUN ON A QUARTER OF THE WATTAGE AND IT CAN MAKE YOU SYSTEM THINK THERE IS A MISSING LINK IN THE SYSTEM. SO HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO CLEAR OUT YOUR LIGHTS, THAT IS A HARD TASK. DID YOU HAVE SOMEONE DO IT? TRY TO CHANGE YOUR FRONT BULBS WITH YOUR BACK BULBS AND SEE IF THAT FIXES THE PROBLEM. IF NOT YOU CAN WIRE THE SOCKET TO BLINK NORMALLY EVEN WITHOUT A BULB IN THE SOCKET.

It's definitely the bulb. Since the LED uses less power, the flasher unit thinks one of the bulbs is out. I've heard there is a way to wire something inline to trick the flasher unit, but I don't know what.

add some resistors into that LED should do the trick for you.

ok the led is like 10 leds put together to fit in the 7740 socket that our turn signals are so im not sure how i would put in a resistor

If that is the case, you can put the resister in the harness itself before the bulb. LED should last a long long time...but if you decide to go back to regular bulb, then just simply take the resistor out and resolder the wires together....goes like this...

(stockwire) ___________00000 (socket/bulb)
(stockwire) ______(resistor)____00000 (socket/LED)

Paper, sorry i wont use caps anymore so its easier for you to read. Jake make sure you disconnect your battery or fuse before you add the resistor, or you will blow a fuse.

I would try 330ohm @ 1/2 watts...if the thing still blinks too fast, increase that to 470 @ 1/2 watts and go on up if still blinks fast. The reason we can't give the exact ohm cuz every LED is rated differently (voltage/amp)...and in your case, a bunch of them together..so you just have to try different values. BTW, resistors are cheap...you can get one from electronic store for like 4 cents a piece.
