Factory radio

Is there a difference between the factory radios if one person has factory installed navi and the other does not? I just got a radio from a '03 TL-S (the one with the built in changer) and it only has 2 connections plus the antenna, but my '00 radio has the same 2 connectors, the antenna, and another smaller connector on the top part of the deck...

I believe the extra connector you are talking about is for the cd changer.

I don't know if 2002+ can add an extra 6 disc (kinda make sense since already got the indash 6 disc already) Anyone with 2002+ can confirm this

Looking through my ETM it seems there ARE 3 connectors.

Connector A: (Blue) - this is pretty much the power, speaker outputs, illum, and navi wires.

Connector B: (Black) - this is outputs goin to EQ

Connector C: (Blue) - CD Changer.

Seems as if the 2003 unit is missing my EQ connector B. I didn't plug in the new HU just cause i didn't want anything to short.

The 20pins one is where all the speakers, power, etc connected to.

The12 pins is connected to the equalizer

The 14 pins is the cd changer

I look on Acura site and dont see CD changer option for 2002+ TLS .... I still think the missing connector is for the changer. Do you have the 20 and the 14 pins on the new HU?

I have an 02 TLS Nav and I was able to add the Blitzsafe adapter and use the CD changer function as an aux input, so I believe that even with the in dash changer you can add an external changer.

Could the extra plug on the 03 have something to do with on-star? I am sure that it was available starting in 03 Navi cars.

The connector on the top part of the deck is your EQ, looks like you got a CL-S in dash changer HU.

Did the back of the new HU looks like this?

Than the radio was off from a CL-S. Cl-S don't have EQ they use amp to power their speaker also CL-S come with tweeter also. But I assume you can put in After market amp to power your speaker just like installing an aftermarket HU but I am not sure about will you lost you NAVI voice....etc. Maybe a professional installer can help you more on that.
