Factory headunit help please!!!

I have a 2002 TL-S and the headunit got jammed. So my question is will a headunit from a 99-01 headunit be compatible, like just plug and play, i know that I will lose the 6disc part but I dont car about that. The 99-01 still has a singel disc cd player right.

Ha, I had the same problem. After taking mine apart and unjamming it, it wouldn't play CD's anymore. Here's what I did...love it!!

CLICK ->> Replacement for Jammed 6-CD Bose HU

Sounds much better than that stock P.O.S. Who needs a 6-CD changer when you can play MP3 discs?

Yes it depends what you are planning to do on the longrun though. If you want to keep your system stock, then the best route is to go with another stock headunit swap. If you plan on upgrading your system in the future, then I would suggest you replace your headunit with an aftermarket one, seeing that you have a perfect excuse to do so.

If you replace the stock headunit you will lose the functionality of the stock subwoofer, but you will easily be able to hook up an aftermarket amp and subwoofer as many of us have done. So, if you give us a good idea of where you are headed with your system, we will be able to help you out and point you in the right direction.

Don't forget he loses the steering wheel controls unless he buys a PAC. I was thinking about running speaker wire to my stock subwoofer but I didn't know which wires to tap into.

BTW, the best price I could find on a used 6-disc replacement was $600 shipped. I'm glad I replaced mine now. Sounds much better even through the crappy stock speakers.

From what i know, its not really worth even running the stock sub, might as well take it out and leave the hole to port a sub from the trunk to pass thru.

If you get a 99-01 HU, the stock sub will work, but keep in mind, there is the issue of those HU's being unable to read CD-R's. If i were you i would look around for a used 02-03 HU or see if you can get your jammed one replaced under warranty.

CL Headunits are not Plug-n-Play with TL's and vice versa. He would need to get a TL HU.
