Factory Bose Question on a 98 CL 3.0

Hey Great forum. I love my CL I have a 2 part question. I ahve been to various car audio places and I am wanting to change out my factory Bose in Dash CDplayer Unit with something esle. Each one tells me that because of the bose system I will have to remove the whole audio system form the car and start again. That is The unit Amps, Speakers and Wire. I have called Crutchfield and they say they have an adapter tht will make it work. What is the Truth. What do you guys suggest. Also is there any one here that successfully be able to maintain some kind of use of the audio sterring wheel control when going to an after market reciever. Was it difficult wiring? Thanks for your help

well, crutchfield has a unit that allows for use of teh steering wheel controls.

about the stock bose shit.

1. if you buy a new hu and wire it to the speakers it will work

2. If you turn it up you may blow the stock speakers or mess with your new head unit..

the reason is that the bose speakers are 2 ohm impedence, and most head units have internal amplifiers that are designed for 4 ohm speakers... so the internal amplifier is putting out more power than it is designed to at any given volume level...

i have mine wired to an alpine head unit, and it works fine.. i do intend to get components very soon however,

so the short answer is yes it will work, but i woudlnt recomend it for a long period of time.

i think it is fairly simple, but crutchfield is a great comapny for customer service, and im sure that they willl not only include instructions, but be available to help you witht the install if need be.

So when you get your new head unit you are going to get new speakers and amp eventually?

In our Cars There are Six speakers 2 on the dash, 2 on the front door, and 2 in the back rear. Were to able to still hook all those up with the new alpine?

my only other comment would be that if you have the money go ahead and buy te new components and 6x9's now... its not really worth the trouble to tear the car down twice, and you will want new speakers eventually... you dont have to spend thousands of dolalrs there are many good component systems that can be had for under 200 and many 6x9's even less than that. all together you could greatly improve sound quality with a ~700 investment, and the DIY isnt that bad at all.

hopefully ive been helpful and feel free to keep asking questions

Well I amy have found what i am looking for. I have an IPOD and I was looking for a way to tie it into the factory system. Right now I use an FM tranmitter. Well In my searching I found this

http://www.densionusa.com/x/index.ph...=375&Itemid=79

It will connect to the Acura Factory unit and allow you to conttrol the IPOD through the Steering wheel controls. Cool! So this weekend I am going to follow those instructiosn you gave me and take a look at the radio and see if it is possible
