There you go! Plastic with a coating of another material.

That's how I made my switch panel in the cupholder: one piece of 1/16" thick ABS black plastic and another 1/16" layer of ABS in matching burlwood on top (will post pics soon). You can get ABS plastic sheets in any material you want - burlwood, walnut, brushed aluminum, carbon fiber black, blue & yellow - they're all 1/16" thick. And you can use a thicker backing of black ABS to support the new head unit - it comes in 1/8" and 3/16" thickness also.

unless your a pro installer, i wouldnt recommend you doing it yourself, installers would use wood or plastic trim, matches and cuts it out and use rubber or vinyl type sheets to cover the wood or plastic...
you'll waste alot of time if you dont know what your doing,
just my nickel!
