External AMP

I purchased what I was told was a 6 CD radio out of a TL but apparently it is out of a CL. Reason I suspect this is the sound is very low and i am told the CL does not have an internal AMP.

My question is can I install an external AMP and if yes where would I install it?

Won't be easy - guy is ignoring my emails. Everything else seems to be working fine just the sound is low. If I take it to a professional stereo place do you think they can add an amp to get it working properly?

yea, but at that time i would get new speakers right away, cause they would probably want to run new speaker wire

if you brought the car to our shop we would get a decent 4 channel for you, but i garuntee you would all but need to get new speakers, mainly because you would be putting a fair amount more power on the stock speakers than they ought to handle. as for running all new speaker wire, i would worry about that. you are going to need about 60' of spk wire, but that is for 4 channels to go from the amp back up to the radio. There is next to no audible gain from upgrading 18 gauge wire to 12 gauge wire (the be precise it is about 0.1db difference). So unless you are going to be competing in spl comps, then i wouldn't bother getting a shop to do all that, it would just be wasted money.
