okay so i am planning out my Non-Navi to Navi conversion and i have everything mapped out except for one thing... the wiring diagram has the Navigation unit hooking to V.C.G..... it is from C (8p) connector pin #3... says it is in the engine on signal... i cant find anything in the helms manual about it... i am thinking that i can just patch into the remote wire for the amp but then the navi would only work with the radio on. if anyone knows what i can tap into to get that signal i would be greatful.. helms manual pages are 22-372 and 22-383

 

There was a complete DIY on it. Cant remember which forum I read it on. Have you tried searching all the forums on the topic?

 

there are a couple of DIY's around but none of them are that detailed. mostly the just document the steps that need to take place not the wiring

 

If the nav unit is only looking for +12V when the engine is running (and cranking), then you could tap into the wire running off the fuel pump relay going out to the fuel pump.
