Dynamat Door Question
Dynamat Door Question
For those of you who have added sound deadening to their doors:
Do you get rid of the old plastic water barrier?
Do you entirely cover the inner metal part?
How do you work around the hole for the foam block that is attached to the inside trim?
Do you leave that hole open or do you dynamat over that hole and just remove the foam block?
If you leave it open, do you worry about water penetration through that open hole?

I've done all 4 doors. I left the plastic on the fronts not the backs (I never open them). The foam blocks were a issue. I dynamted the hole over and cut it out for the foam blocks.I'm going to add a amp to the door speakers hopefully next week
I may remove the blocks after doing this (you want to create a "sealed door panel" for your spakers for best mid bass) it all depends how it sounds. But back to the doors them selves it does make a difference lowering road noise and making the bass sound better and your car sounds more "solid". after you do it wait until the first time you close your doors. And yes the door panels still fit just don't cover any of the holes for the panel.

I found covering the thin, back metal (the part which is seen from the outside) made the biggest difference. From there I proceeded to bang on the door listening for any rattles. I located the rattles and placed dynamat over that also. To top it off, I used some material called Rammat on the inside door panel.
The overall effect is a much heavier, yet much nicer solid door sound/feel.
You can throw away the moisture lining if you want to however I only did that for the front doors (left it on the back).
Good luck and enjoy!
