DVD Player mounted in center armrest?

I'm thinking about mounting a dvd player in the arm rest compartment. It would me mounted upright. Is it possible?

I thought about doing that, but it would take some work. You would probably have to cut the bottom of the compartment out in order to make it sit in there deep enough. There isn't much room to gain by cutting it out though. It also depends on the DVD player; it has to be able to operate correctly while it is upright.

My Blaupunkt DVD player can be mounted upright, but it is about 8 inches long. There isn't enough room in there!!

Thank you for responding. I didn't realize that the depth of the compartment is that shallow.

I wonder how others did it. I don't want to have to mount it in the glove compartment or underneath it.

OOOH SNAP!!!!! I got owned on that one!! Nice job.

Does anyone know what an extra top storage compartment (the one you cut into) sells for? Part number? Is just that one piece available?

EDIT: FYI, My dvd player is currently mounted in the trunk where the pass thru cover is.

If you get the Eclipse DVD player 4103 I think, it is tiny and fits beautifully. Not cheap though... and no MP3s.

It looks like Shawhite's set-up could still be opened if you had to. The other dvd player (posted by Streeteffectz), looks like you can't open the cover.

Could you guys correct me if I'm wrong please?
