Double Din installed!

well got a double din avh-p4000 around boxing day, and recently finished installing it

used conseit68 thread to mod a single din to double din kit,
https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/diy-metra-kit-alpine-iva-w200-612291/

mine was a lil diff, he atleast had a trim piece that is useable, pioneer gave a flimsy pos to use. so i had to use the middle piece in the single din and mod it on the side to get rid of some space, then fine tuned to get it flush and without any creases...

also repainted the int gloss black, gotta do the top part since i didnt bother with it yet, too cold to paint in the garage..

flushness......

other than that, its a great unit, major flaw is no custom bg, but its ok, i use music dvds now and have a 16gig usb drive as mp3s only....bypass works great also, used a 5 pin relay, and bypassed it, most people used the spst switch but i said screw it, will look out of place

murdaz; your interior is awesome. thats a great install on your double din. something even uncald4 would be proud of.

you made the gloss black look a lot better than i thought i would w/your full aspec interior.

dont get me wrong, its a great kit he mades, and to match it to stock look is better, but its way overpriced, specially for someone in canada like me, taxes/duties make it worse

Sweet Jebus, that's EXACTLY what I was thinking of doing... the glossy black dash trim, that is.

I saw it done on another members car in an old pic but I'm VERY excited about seeing it done in the exact interior I want for my next car. Very nice indeed.

A few questions if I may? How do you find the glossy black trim compared to the factory stuff? I imagine it picks up dust and fingerprints a LOT more, but that might also depend on how you paint and finish it. Do the pictures really do the glossy black justice, or is it far better? Have you noticed any practical difference since painting it glossy black? Do you find reflections more annoying or things harder to see? That sorta thing... any and all info you can provide would be much appreciated

yea it does attract dust and fingers prints much, i smoke so in the pics all the fine dust is that, and some blurry parts are finger prints, only thing just gotta keep a rag in the glove box and buff it off at times, the pics show more gloss than it is, cause of the flash, last pic shows how it really looks in natural light. and it doesnt reflect much at all, nothing that can distract u or blind u.

Nice.

What I was thinking about doing was buying one of those dash trim kits online and simply painting that instead of painting the actual trim. That way if I ever did want to go back to the original look for whatever reason it'd be as simple as peeling off the trim kit and cleaning it up.

I assume you painted the actual dash?
