Double Din Headunit question

I have a 02 TL and have seen most people replacing the stock headunit with a single din one. I want to put a double din head unit. is it possible to do without losing the tray thing above the headunit? also do they make a kit that is double din? links to anyone that has a double din would be great.

No one makes a double din kit but, one should fit. You would just have to have a custom trim plate made to go around it.

But, there are several very nice double din units that have built in screens and dvd. Eclipse makes several and even the older 7301 is an awesome unit. Kenwood makes a brand new double din touch screen with DVD as well. They are way past just being for CD and cassette. Now, they do DVD, cd, navigation, you name it.

Flip out is still the best, I dont even stock those double din units because only few cars can accept them.

If you seek out a good shop, they can make it look good for you.

nice and pioneer isnt that an oxymoron... j/k.. but anyways i really think that a double din in the tl/cl dash fits better due to the size of the opening... I personally want the eclipse double din unit but dont want to spend that kind of money on it... you should be able to fit a double din and still retain the tray... also you probably could modify the metra kit to accept a double din...
