I just finish installing my converter today. It looks like it works. I just have to hook up my DVD player to it now. Got some pics but dont know how to post them. I put the unit up front. I tapped into the pin connector under the right side kick panel. Theres a grey and white connector there. The one you tap into is the white one. And you cut the 4 wires and connect it to the converter. Pretty easy install. I did it in 40 minutes. I just taped it to see if it works and it did. So now I have to go back and solder it in.

The sound is going to be a FM modulator for right now. planning to get a blitzsafe later on.

Do you get any inteference in the video screen when the engine is on and you are moving?

Test for this before you put everything back togther, just to make sure.

I think i did. you can barely notice it tho. the screen shakes a little. moving up and down. but i have to double check on that. if it does do that with the engine on, im going to put in my inline power filter. do i put the filter on the DVD power or the converter power? hopefully that will stop it. i just need to find a spot to hide the unit now. i like the unit up front then in the back. Acura wont even no that i cut the wires. it looks just like stock when i taped it up. i have pic's on that.

everything is done. no lines on the screen at all. i just hook up one inline filter to the dvd and converter unit.fm modulator sucks tho. buts its ok for right now. diffenately recomend getting a blitzsafe or soundgate. picture is really clear too. THANKS DOM

and wires taped up to look like stock. just need to put the kick panel back on to cover it up. dealer wont even know its there.

i got power for the dvd at the amp acc wire. just tap into it. and i just use an inline filter that i have for a while already. i dont no what kind it is. i got it at an electronic store. it has some kind of blue hard heat shrink on it. i dont no if its a good kind, but elduderino will know what it is.

Yeah thats sesame street. i just have a dvd player. planning to get a new unit later on. a dvd player with a built in tv tuner. i do recomend that you get a aux input instead of using a fm modulator.

I think I am in trouble

I soldered almost all the wires but have the problem with two:

I have one brown wire that goes from the screen to the navi (this one stayed, I did not cut it)
Another one left is BLUE from the Navi screen and Yellow from the Navigation Unit
Should I solder them two (blue & yellow) or am I missing something here...

PLEASE HELP ASAP

Maybe this will be more clear:

Per instructions:

White (pin A4) = Red wire on the RGB
Red wire (pin A5)= Green wire on the RGB
Yellow wire (pin A10)= Blue wire on the RGB
Green (pin A11)= Gray on the RGB (sync)
Ground the Black and Shield wire in the DB9 Cable.

As you can see BLUE wire (from the screen) in not mention here... the only one that we did not use in this step




“YOU MUST CUT THESE WIRES IN HALF!!!! LEAVING YOU WITH A NAVIGATION SIDE AND A SCREEN SIDE

Red, Green, Blue and Gray wires on the DB9 cable go towards the Screen.

Orange (Red mate), Yellow (green mate), Purple (Blue mate), and Brown (Gray mate) goes towards the Nav unit.


Yellow (from the NAVI unit) is the only one that we did not used in this step...

So my question is- should I solder BLUE and YELLOW TOGETHER?

nice install... the pictures alone doesn't seem to say much about the steps of your install, but yes its tough to stop and take pictures of your progress when the only thing on your mind is to complete your project (at least I had that problem).

also if i may add some advice: Unless you're pretty fast or just a natural when it comes to installs, you might want to just save your time and get the blitz adapter now, instead of getting an FM modulator for now and switching it out later. I'm sure that by the time you read this you probably already have noticed this, but fm mods the gain is just too damn low... plus the blitz just plain sounds better....

OK, just kidding; ) No known way to tell the good from bad from the outside, but the last one I bought from Soundgate is fine. If you have non-nav, the SOundgate works just fine.

I heard the Blitz comes with the cable for Nav units. IF this is correct, then it's worth getting if you don't want to do the cable mod described in the FAQ section.

elduderino is conjuring up a soundgate aux 3 adapter that may be plug and playable, but I don't think it has made it through R&D yet.

But as of yet.....I haven't been able to find the perfect adapter for sound. Most people have had problems losing the upper level highs with other adapters, or they lose XM, or something. Our cars are just too damn new to have easy mods done for the audio.

Same here....Doms navi module is sitting next to my Alpine TV tuner and amp in the office. elduderino is working on using Soundgates aux3 with a home made cable to make it plug and play, but he is unsure of the sound quality as of yet.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I used this pic as a quicl reference and it didn't work for my 05tsx...

I had to connect my wires exectly opposite of this pic in order to get the video input to work....(Red, Blue, Green, Grey) towards the screen (away from the white plug) and (Yellow, Orange, Purp;e, etc) closest to the plug.

Also, still having some minor issues...

1. Since I unplugged the Navi screen I can't use the Navi without entering some type of security code. How do I find out what my security code is? I haven't had time to search the threads for this yet, and I am at work so I don't know if I will get to today.

2. It may be because I haven't typed in my security code, but when im watching a dvd the screen cuts out after a minute or so. It seems like a screen saver kicks in or something. I have to hit a button, like audio or something to reactivate the screen. It acts like the "nag" screen with the OK button when you don't select OK, it shuts off after a minute or so. Should this stop once I enter my code and hit the OK button?

3. Where is everyone getting the 12v power for the Nav2DVD unit? And what type of filter should be used?

4. The black wire and the uninsulated silver wire, should they be twisted together and grounded to the chasis? Can I ground the units ground to the same spot?

A little help would be appreciated. Thanks all!

When u bought the car. If brand new there should be a card in the glove box code for Navi and CD player is on there.

I bought this unit as well, however I have the Ice-link that uses no blitzsafe adapter, can I use the blitzsafe for the ice-link and the dvd converter??

Also is this installation hard? I'm pretty interested in getting this setup. Also which alpine unit were you referring to that has a tv tuner and dvd player built in? Thanks!

I bought the alpine TUE-T151. It is only a TV tuner! A seperate little box that attaches to 2 antennas, a video and r & l audio output, 1/16" remote eye (sold seperatly dammit!), and a power and ground and optional remote wire. I plan on using a PS2 slim for my dvd player.

blitzsafe maybe for ice link? Not for dvd converter!

Also where are you guys plugging the power inverter? Are you using the cigarette ligher in the arm rest or is there a wire somewhere else or socket where a power inverter can be plugged into? Thanks.

Power inverter? I used the yellow and red wire going to the oem amp. Man I wish my cigarette lighter had power all the time and not just when the key is in the ignition. I might have to change that. Ye Ole Cig Lighter Mod!

1) Does the icelink w/o the blitzsafe have an RCA audio out? (I haven't seen one yet and was curious). IF it does, you just need an RCA source signal switcher like the Soundgate AUX3. If it DOESN'T, that's a kink...

2) The PS2 needs 110V AC, so you need an inverter.
