So last friday i order an Acelle 8500 from them, as that seems to be the dvd player of choice on these boards.

It doesnt ship friday, i figure no big deal. I call monday, they say they were backed up friday and it will go out monday. They told me that i would recieve an email from ups (that quantumview system for those familar with it) with the tracking number when it ships.

No email monday. Tuesday i had some business and personal stuff that kept me busy. Wednesday i give them a call again, they tell me the product was backordered, and that they are getting more in today. I express my frustration in a polite manner, and the sales rep says "tell you what, we will charge you from ground shipping and send it next day air, you will have it tomorrow". i figure ok. Mistakes happen and i am open to giving ppl a chance to redeem themselves. After all we are all just human right?

Wednesday i get an email confirming GROUND shipping....whatever, ill wait another day. We are both in CA so i know ill have it by friday (today).

So the box just showed up, i ordered the Accelle 8500 due to good reviews, it has front inputs, fits in the cubby in a tsx below the stock nav, etc. When i open the box its a very cheap looking "Zicom" model ZDP15. This model has no screen, no inputs, and is very aesthetically rough on the eyes. It is a terrible looking and cheap looking unit.

So i call them up and they say that the 8500 was discontinued so they sent me this....wtf? No phone call to let me know, no email, nothing. They tell me i can ship this one back for credit. I tell them i dont think its fair for me to cover shipping. They offer to send me a 9130 model (which seems comparable to 8500, although slightly bigger...god i hope it fits) and a ups call tag to send back the other unit.

Wish me luck...

update: i went out and measured, that other unit wont fit. The 8500 is 6-1/8 wide, this one is 7", the cubby is slightly under 7"....grrrrrr

 

That's horse shit homie! Usually companies that offer products for hella cheap also offer service that isn't worth much either. I hope you get them to handle that correctly. I would just return it, get the money back and never deal with them again.

 

ya thats what i am doing at this point. I told them i will return it once i get a call-tag, monday if i dont have one yet i am calling my bank and contesting the charge.

Any idea on where i might be able to pick up the 8500?

Glad you were able to find it. If it really is the 8500, your going to love it! I purchased mine from qualitymobilevideo.com. i was able to just pick it up. the guy seemed very cool. i don't understand why he doesn't take it off his website though. He's known it's been discontinued for a long time now. Some other member had the same problem with him.

Do you happen to a link to the vendor on ebay you got it from?
