do i need a cap ?

im gunna be running 2 eclipse amps 1 is 85x 4 the other is 370 x 2 at 4 ohms

i have an optima red top now think the stock alt will be able to keep up ? i dont want to have dimming

Cap = for adding to an already working system to tighten up the bass. Will not fix anything as far as dimming. With a long current draw (more than 10ms) the cap will discharge down to the car's running voltage. Caps are for VERY short, high current draws.

Extra Battery = for playing the system with the car off. It won't do dick with the car on unless the voltage is less than 12.5v - and if that is happening - some shit is really fucked up.

Larger alternator = real fix. You can't pull power out of your ass.

Your current draw with class AB amps is about 40-50 amps continuous (I assume they are all AB b/c I don't know of any car class Ds that are dual channel). This is probably around The stock alternator can really only handle an extra 25-30 amps. You'll just have to see how it does.

subs are jl audio 12 w6's the 85 watts are goin to boston components and 6x9's
so proaudio what u sayin ? that i might have get a bigger alt?
