Definately time to upgrade my stock speakers!!!

Ok guys its over im done with the fucking rattles and popping sounds from my stocks.
I think i blew out my speakers and ive only had my TSX for less than a month. I listen to alot of hiphop with loud bass and wow all i hear on some songs is pops and rattles. I cant take it anymore.
So in my first step towards upgrading my audio. I wanna replace all the interiors.
First i want to know what are all the sizes and secondly what do you guys reccomend for SQ that will run off the stock amp for the time being but once I buy an amp will sound awesome that fit in the stock slots with no cutting.
Also im gonna dynmat all of them.
Afterwards i plan on upgrading the amps and designing a custom enclosure in the trunk.
I want a jl audio w7 with the jl 1/1000 amp.
what i want in the interiors is nice crisp sq.
Give me some advice as i have the money right now for the interiors and want to BUY!!!
Send me links on line or hit me up on aim if anything but i cant take that crappy sound anymore.
PS. I do music production and i have studio monitors in my house with dolby digital 5.1 so listening to music at home so crisp and getting in the car and hearing pops and rattles is brutal to me.

Yeah, I was going to replace all the exterior speakers, but also decided against it....

Might I suggest the search function for this forum? This subject has been covered several times.

Yeah, but you really should replace the one behind the gas cap. It just doesn't pop like it should when I'm filling up.

Hm.. new ghetto speakers plus two fart pipes and you're set.

ive been thru this forum and havent seen a solid reccomendation.
Im looking at Beymas or Infinitis im not talking about this cheap replacement shyt. im looking at components and the like to build a HQ system. and was asking for reccomendations and links. Only speaker ive seen in any thread on here worth taking a gander at was the kenwood spoken about in one thread. But i havent seen them in any stores or saw a link where they could be bought.
Dont flame the thread with ignorance. Who said anything about ghetto speakers and fart pipes? Is that a shot at my musical preference?

Sizes:
- Doors 6.5" with less than 2" clearance
- Rear Deck 6x9 with about 3" of clearance for trunk torsion bars
- Front Dash 3/4" tweeter

I would recommend Polks all around just b/c MB Quartz magnets are going to give you issue on the doors and you'd end up having to amp them.

And people have posted there actual speakers they put in. I believe the door panel guide has a link to a guy that replaced his speakers.

If you're serious and have the budget (after all the W7 fits the bill!)... you might as well do fabrication and fit a nice set of speakers to the door rather than limiting yourself to what will fit stock.

I've been the fabrication route and ur right, if you have the time and money.

If not, I've also found the Honda speaker connectors (like what Crutchfield would offer) at PartsExpress.com for a couple of bucks each.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK if you intend to redo the audio b/c once you customize and cut, you spend 2x more to bring it back to stock.

I plan on keeping the car for a while. And this is the first in a long list of mods im planning on doin.
Its just I want to start the process on the AUDIO now since its getting on my nerves.
I do have the budget for the JL W7s.
I just dont want unnecessary cutting done still want the look of stock without it actually being stock.
The custom enclosure idea i have for the trunk will also enclude customizing the trunk.
Im a heave audio buff and really into hooking up cars for shows.
I also have a crazy idea im going to do for my video setup which i will work on this winter.
Thanx for the ideas!
I was considering the MB Quartz but was skeptical because of the small clearance thats why i asked for reccomendations.
I was looking at Beymas as an option as well for the interiors.
Like i said earlier im an audio head. And in all my previous cars ive had awesome SQ systems in em. I dont care to rock houses or set off peoples car alarms as i drive by but in the closest reproduction of music or of my studio tracks.

No one is going to make a "solid recommendation." People buy what they like and what fits their budget. If you like $50,000 component speakers, then that's the best recommendation for you. If I like $5 WalMart speakers, then that's the best recommendation for me (I personally replaced with Polk's). No one can tell you what you'll like best.

I'm not a audiophile, and I tend to believe that most decent speakers (Kenwood, Polk, JL, Alpine, etc, etc) will get you decent reproduction of music, and that you'll have to spend another 10 times as much money to get much closer to lifelike production. A car is possibly the worst environment to reproduce studio-quality music, in my opinion. Good luck to you.

As for other people installing speakers:

It seems Polk is the most popular for a drop in replacement.

I wonder if any one knows about the low pass filters for the rear deck 6x9's. I replaced the 6x9 with infinity reference speakers and they did not really make much of a differnece because their is low pass fillter built in to the car amp for the rear deck speakers. If you decided to put an enclosure in the trunk the rear deck speakers are the perfect place to tap into the systems wires.

I think im gonna go with the polk DB6500.
4 of those to replace the 6.5inch.
Should i run just the 4 6.5's disconnect the 6x9s and leave them disconnected till i get my subbox and sub amp?
Thanks for the feedback.

I replaced my froont door and rear with earthquake components and they sound great. They are really effecient so you don't need an amp. I have the bas set at only mid bass for the door so I no longer get the "low frequency door rattles". I also added two L7 solobaric subs in the trunk with an old Sherwood SA240 amp. I didn't like the way it sounded at first but after removing the rear deck speakers completely the bass is nice and clean. The only problem is with the "low frequency rattles that I got on the rear deck" I solved the problem with some dynamat and now I am thoroughly satisfied with my system. I cannot stress how important it is to completely remove the rear deck speakers so the bass can comethrough. The difference is amazing!

Thank you snoops.
I too believe Dynamat is the key to the Rattle problems with the TSX audio.
Now does anyone know a place on line where you can order speakers online that has a wide selection not named crutchfield??
I was thinking of buying them with a warranty to protect them if they blow so i can get replacements.

I replaced my front speakers with MB Quart Reference Series RCE216 6.5" components. The doors fit OK. I had to use a 5/16" spacer to get it clear of the window though. The rear doors are Eclipse 8363 3-way 6.5" coaxials and they did not need a spacer. The MB Quarts are very clear and I haven't noticed the need for an amp. As a matter of fact, the highs and mids are so overpowering in my system that I'm considering adding a sub to balance them out. Another note, the sensitivity of the MB Quart is 90db whereas the Eclipse is 96db and the rears do not overrun the front speakers. I honestly don't think anybody who replaces their front speakers with these MB Quarts would be unhappy.

Wasn't sure which one of your posts I should quote

I think MB Quarts are great speakers, but as far has having to do as little mod as possible (including using spacers), I suggested a brand that someone already put in. I'm actually glad you mentioned they worked without an amp b/c it gives me another option as I don't mind having to mod anything, as long as it doesn't involve cutting.

hmmmm i was told about mb quarts initially by the dude at best buy when i got my alarm done. Question? Would spacers make the speaker look like its sticking out of the factory holes? Or do i just use the grill that would come with the MB Quarts speakers?
Thanks for your help!

Well, the 5/16" spacers lift the speaker 5/16" out of the factory hole. The door panel will fit right over the top of them. You can't tell anything has been replaced in my car without taking the door panels off. The nice thing about MB Quart components is that you can mount the tweeter in a typical coax location in the center of the mid bass driver cone. This way, I didn't have to cut or find a second mounting location for the new tweeter. I didn't get mine on-line so I couldn't tell you where to find them. I picked them up at SoundAdvice in Jacksonville and they have them on their website but do not sell them on-line. FYI, SoundAdvice is owned by Tweeter. Here they are.
