Dealer blames CD-R disks for cd changer failure
Dealer blames CD-R disks for cd changer failure
Ok, my cd changer went broke last week, and finally took my car in for service. so the service advisor asked if i been using cdr/copied cds. then i asked whats the difference?
he said, because the size of the disks are different, that can cause failures. i was like "what?" i just said ok and let him continue.
theres no way thats true. if there is a difference, its probably like .001mm difference. is there some truth to this?
anyone have contacted acura about it or anyone have confirmation?

Complete BS. If the CDs thickness was different, most CD players would not even play it. Your dealer is full of it. One suggestion is to contact the manufacturer of your CD changer (I think it's Panasonic) and ask them if a CDR can cause this problem.
What specifically was your problem?

Now that it wont accept any CD, burned or original, just take it to another dealer. They should replace it.

Maybe they are being told this by the repair shops.
