Cutting door metal
Cutting door metal
I got the rear doors cutout this evening. Should have the rear speakers in and everything back together tomorrow after work.
Amazing how thin the metal in the doors is! I mean it cut like the proverbial "hot knife through butter". (I used a jigsaw with a metal blade).
I sanded the edges so they weren't sharp, put a layer of paint over the bare metal, and attached the new plywood mounting rings with copious amounts of caulk to help eliminate the metal from vibrating beneath the rings.
Was much easier than I thought--the whole process only took two hours.
(My rears are going to be a/d/s--one generation back from the current 346cs. Long story, but I bought some 346cs on eBay and they turned out to be these instead).
I didn't take any pictures--I figured I've posted enough pictures of the front doors. Let me know if anybody wants them.
