Custom sub box volume question - opinions?

Hey, I am building a box for my 10" Polk sub, planning to make it look similar to our Aussie friend's (nice and clean, looks good) but I have a somewhat technical question. The speaker needs .66-1.0 ft^3 of sealed space which I will easily provide - my plans are to build a box of approx 2 ft^3 volume and either put my 10" in the middle with the future option of a 12" or to make one box with 2 entirely separate sealed compartments of ~1 ft^3 space and prolly get another 10" sub (or pair) later. Will giving my current sub almost twice the volume necessary (reccomended?) affect my sound quality - ie will sound waves within the box have too much room to move and thus create interference? I'm not a tech head, so any input would be appreciated. Thanks--Brian

Gonna break down and try to use MS Frontpage again for my speaker/amp install this week - don't expect great pics though.

yes eerything is affected by airspace in a sub box. and for the record i build al mine using computer software. i never go by manufacturers specs. they always suggest smaller boxes than what is optimal because in todays caraudio society the smaller the space the more subs they sell. little is discussed about the quality your likely to get with smaller enclosures.

Can you give the name of the software or a guess as to good volume? 2 subs are better IMO, but 1 well run sub may actually be better quality which is what I'm after - one 10" is enough, but would try 2 if possible. thanks
