For those of you who have had to fabricate small parts or inserts, for mounting audio items in the dash, "not an ashtray" etc... I came across a website that will machine the part for you out of many different materials via the internet. All you have to do it send them the specs via their website, and you get the part (or 100 of them!) in the mail. I am in NO WAY AFFILIATED with them, just thought it may be useful:

We have an OMAX waterjet cutting machine where I work - you can cut virtually ANYTHING with one. They were cutting glass with it the other day... it was pretty amazing. I've also seen them cut through 2" thick stone, although the cut wasn't as clean as it is through harder substances.

I cut these two emblems out of a 1/2" thick steel plate. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them (they're starting to rust), but I thought about getting them chromed.
