confused can this work & how?

06 tsx w navi stock 6 disc cd changer

if i have a sony flip screen 7' dvd/mp3/cd player...
how can i connect this in the tsx while still maintaining a fully functionable 6 disc changer andwill it affect navi operations (voice+etc)?
also i plan on connecting
my amp sony mono block amp
my sub sony 12 ' sub
as well as the doms dvd unit to play the dvd on nav screen as well.

i know how to run a basic system in a car with a new head unit but i want to maintian the stock 6 disc functionality through the nav screen and the audio of the car basically so that i can play dvd mp3 through the sony headunit and reg cd through the stock system ALL playing out of the system=amp sub stock interior speakers..

also 06 has the rca audios in the center console i know that will help with the audio for the doms unit to get audio ...

will this work and how? any help is appreciated i read as many threads and posts as i can here and on other sites and also searched the DIY but cant find this exact setup im trying to accomplish
let me know if i let out any vital info to get the right answers.... thanks guys

Yeah, you can do this in a couple of ways.

1. Easy route- get a usa spec pa11-hon2 adapter and use it for audio-in from the sony head unit's line out. Thus you're just using the sony for its functionality, and piping its audio into the stock system. If you don't know already, look for the OEM MP3 adapter's trim online to easily retrofit the top storage pocket into a 1-din unit for the sony.

2. Better (harder) route- splice the audio directly into the stock AUX line. This would require more serious digging into the wiring to identify which wire is which. There's no electrical diagram for our car yet (sadly) and until then I'm going to hold off on splicing that isn't identical to the 2004s. Aux is certainly a new feature, and I had a hard enough time getting the Dom's unit to work that I'll be waiting for a manual now.

That would be the way to go in my opinion, to do what you want.

Only question I would have, is do you want to have the stock head unit the primary control or the sony unit the primary audio control? Reason I ask, is I have a the stock unit feed the AUX in on an Alpine unit because I utilize the processing on the Alpine unit, this config might not be desirable for you, but I suggest it, if say the sony unit has an EQ or multiple preouts.

as well as the doms dvd unit to play the dvd on nav screen as well.
so you are looking to put in an in-dash DVD player w/flip screen AND "Dom's unit" ?

Good point here spoon, um well the sony head is the
sony xav a1
DVD/CD receiver with built-in amplifier
» motorized, retractable touchscreen 7" LCD monitor
» detachable control panel
» plays DVDs, DVD-Rs/RWs, DVD+Rs/RWs, CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, and MP3 CDs
» EQ7 sound controls (7 preset tone curves and 7-band equalizer)
» XM Satellite Radio controls
» front-panel audio/video input
» rear-panel audio/video input
» audio/video output
» dual-zone capable
» 4-volt front, rear, and subwoofer preamp outputs
» DVD/CD signal-to-noise ratio: 100 dB
» FM sensitivity: 9 dBf

so i have alot of power and control with the sony headunit. So i would have the stock unit feed the AUX in on an sony unit like you have with the alpine. In this case would i have to wire anything different? Are there outputs on the stock radio that are rca's that plug into the line or do i need some adaptor ? In turn by linking the stock unit to the aux on the sony unit , then the rcas from the sony unit to the pre amp inputs on the amp for the system, everything(stock cd or sony will play through my amp and sub? Im so glad i got responses to this cause surprisingly i cant really find this..thanks guys

in another thread superb wrote: As we all know, with the TL's and CL's w/ navi, once you install an aftermarket deck, you lose the voice prompts...

Is this the same with the TSX???? i hope not cause i want to keep all functionality of the stock tsx w navi just have the sony headunit control audio features and have all play through the system= amp sub int speakers....

sorry for the over load of questions but i just want to know everything i can before i start purchasing the rest of the parts and getting ready to do the project...

so as I guessed,
1 source, 2 screens, extra spending, extra work, extra complexity
Can't think of why that makes sense to you.

Sorry my comments are not helpful.
Just puzzled why you want to put in "dom's unit" as you already have the top-end Sony all-in-one unit.
I also was trying to point out that your "racking brain" seems unnecessary and you're making this more complicated, but that's what you want to do so all powers to you.

well i know with the doms unit i can have the nav screen play the same as the sony head unit so i thought that was an overall cool idea and i guess in time down down the road i can always throw some tvs in the headrest and maybe a ps3 or something...
the racking of my brain comes from the fact that i cant find threads or posts on this or any other acura /honda/audio-video forums or diy posts . i got some time before i will do this but i dont want to have to take apart then reconnect then take apart then reconnect you know.....

You won't find any here because AFAIK no one has gone down the path (and post about it) you're going,
I know cause i spent weeks researching on this topic.

Go talk to a shop. They should be familiar with all sorts of custom setups and its always easier to describe what you're thinking about to someone right in front of you, not just a few sentances on a bboard.

Also, there's no stock RCAs in an 06 man. There's a 1/8" mini stero jack.

My suggestion to you would be to not get the Dom's unit if you're already going to have one screen in the front playing the dvd. It's an extra $240 dollars that you don't need to spend. It sounds like the best solution would be to add an audio auxilary input to the stock stereo. There are several adapters that can do this, such as the UsaSpec, Blitzsafe, Soundgate, P.I.E., etc.. With this adapter you could feed the audio out from the Sony through the stock system and still maintain the full functionality of the stereo and navigation. If you plan on adding additional screens later to the headrests all you would need is a y-split video cable comming out from the Sony for the tvs. You could also connect the PS2 through the video input of the Sony. The only reason you would need to get Dom's unit is if you plan on adding a backup camera (again, only if your Sony doesn't support this.)

If you're going to take advantage of the EQ and/or multiple preouts, then yeah, pipe stock->sony, otherwise go the other way - less hassle. To feed the factory stereo into the AUX of an aftermarket, follow these instructions (only instead of connecting to an amp, connect to the new HU, obviously):

https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/instructions-install-shop-preamp-output-300209/

I don't have a nav unit, so I can't speak to that, but this guy posted this a few months ago, it's TL specific, but it might be applicable to the TSX. I don't know for sure.
