Coaxial with stock tweeter vs. component set

I have an 05 MDX with stock sterer....

I have a really nice pair of Focal 6.5" coaxs that I can put in the front doors, OR I can get a pair of components and put the Focals in the rear doors.....questions:

How hard is it to install the component, tweeter, crossover?

Has anyone tried both a good coax with stock tweeter vs. component set?

Thanks!

Components up front. Coaxials in the rear. Always.

BTW, are you also going to install an aftermarket amp, or just replace the speakers?

I have a decent amp that can drive either the coax's or any components I put in there.

The Focal Coax does not have a separate tweeter.

I'm trying to see how difficult it is to install components myself.... removing the door, finding a place for the crossover, removing and installing the tweeter, etc

I know the coax doesn't have a seperate tweeter, that's why I said put components in the front, installation shouldn't be that hard, unless you're fishing new wires through the doors

Well do you think I'd need to? From what I've seen, the tweeter wires run down to the 6.5 speaker area and connect there, correct?

If so, I could use that wiring to hook up the components and cross over, and then I think I could run any speaker wire from my installed amp directly to the back of the dash and hook up there.

Does that sound right?

Also, any comment on amp location? I have a base MDX.... under the passenger seat OK? It's not a huge amp. Thanks.

Personally, I always run new speaker wire. I never trust the stock junk, mainly because it is so small. I ran new wire in my CL, my buddy's F-150 and I'll be running new wire in my Celica this weekend. IMO, it's definitely worth the any/all extra hassle.

I hear you... regarding the MDX, easy or hard to run wires into the doors?

Thanks all!

I dunno, never done it. That's why I didn't post anything with respect to that. My CL was pretty easy, once I pulled the door off. That was a pain in the ass though.

It really depends on how the wires are run and insulated between the door and the car, my CL had big 90 degree elbow turns that were virtually impossible
