Clarion AMP & SUB

Hello everybody. I don't know much about sound systems, wiring, and all that electrical jumble. Heres the deal, my buddy wants to sell me his Clarion SRW3841 sub (600 Watt & 15" I think ) and a Clarion APX 400.2 amp. I have everthing stock right now but Im getting a deck and speakers soon.
So Im asking ya'll for any input and/or suggestions. Thanks

First suggestion is get a good deal because in the realm of sound gear, Clarion is nnot known for subs or amps. They are a head-unit company primarily. They have an amp or two made by Arc Audio (which is good) but I don't know which they are...

I haven't played too much with the clarion subs all that much but the limited amount I have played with them I've been adequately pleased with the quality and the fact that they don't really need all that much power.

as for the amps I know a great deal about them, since I am still running them in my TL most of the time. For daily beating I use the APX400.4 for the doors and an APX200.2 for the sub. NOw since Clarion hasn't really changed the naming of their amps for some time, it's hard to tell exactly what model year you are looking at getting but for a fair amount of time the Clarion amps were essentially clones of Arc Audio's amps. They were pretty efficient and really clean. even at nearly 6 years old I refuse to sell these amps.

For what you are looking to do I think for the price you ought to jump on it. You will be fairly surprised by the amount of output you ought to get if it's installed and tuned correctly.
