CL-S speakers

has anyone replaced their bose factory speakers with aftermarket ones? i'm considering changing my headunit and was told that the bose amp for the speakers would have to be used instead of the one if the HU unless i changed my speakers too. woud it be better just to keep the factory speakers and hook up the new HU to the bose amp?

if you don't want to get a new headunit you don't have to get one. Just get the upgrade speaker kit in the groupbuy forum. I heard it's pretty good for an upgrade someone decided to do.

Honestly, the best thing to do is to strip the whole deal out and start from scratch. Get an alpine up front with the metra kit, a small amp to replace the bose amp, and a good pair of components and you will be good to go.

Or, if your only concern is stopping the jamming (and not improving the sound), you should be able to find a replacement deck in the blackmarket for under $200

nah, i don't want to just top the jamming because the replacement deck will only end up jamming too down the road. i'm thinking about getting the kenwood ddx8017 (when i actually have enough money) and some infinity kappa perfect components to hook up to the kenwood that has 5v preouts and pretty good power. i wouldn't need a separate amp right? i hear streeteffectz's dash kit is pretty good for this unit (i think it's structured around the metra kit).

ive got the kenwood 7017 with the speakers from eldude at avincar and the stock amp... the speakers have tons of power going to them, no need to get a new amp. you may consider a sub tho bc i lost some of the bass feeling and im putting a small sub in now. i have the dash kit from him and it is very nice fitment.

how do you like the 7017? i hear other people complaining about the plain GUI as compared to the 8017. what are your overall thoughts about the HU?
