CL Headunit
Hey guys,
I'm fairly experienced in car audio, not a pro but have always done the work myself. But I have a question for those with stock bose headunits and aftermarket amps.
I was at my local shop the other day and the guy said that the stock headunit reduces the bass at full volume so the speakers don't distort. Anyone find this to be a problem for them? (I have an 03 CLS/ no navi)

The stock systems are known for having pretty shitty bass...
When you get to full volume with our head units, it's pretty much going to be nothing but a distorted signal. I don't know if the head unit was designed to lower certain frequencies at certain levels, but I do know the output is shitty from these units...
For some reason my inline converters kept dying on me, so I just use the high level inputs on my amp and it doesn't get very low/loud with the bass. I hooked my amp up to my pioneer unit and the sub was 12X louder... Only reason I haven't swapped it out is htat I don't want to loose the 6-disc in dash changer...
If you got some money to through around, get the avic with the built in hard drive. You can search for the song by voice commands, so you can keep your eyes on the road.
Next project for it is a computer instead of radio and see how that turns out...
