Chevy S-10

Ok my friend wants me to help him out with bass in his s-10 truck and its a single cab and he is currently running a 8 inch amplified bass tube with 80 watts. SO this is what I am thinking of doing, and he talked to the guy at Audionutz and he said it can be done, I bought a solo L7 8" and a kicker 400.1, and in a custom ported box. do you guys think this shuold slam?

In a small truck, should sound pretty good. I had a pair of 8" round Solo's in my Nissan a while back. The 8" squares will move about as much air as most 10's.

I must admit, being from Oklahoma and an hour away from the Stillwater Designs factory, I am a bit partial. Here is the list that I have had over the years. I am sure I have left one or two out.

4- 12" Kicker comps (2 each in different installs)
2- 8" Kicker comps
1- 12" Kicker comp cast. This one designed for the Asian market
1- 12" Kicker Freeair
2- 8" Kicker Solos round
2- 10" Kicker Solos round
2- 10" Kicker Solos L7. Had one before the one I have now and never even got to hear it. It would not fit my install at the time. Switched vehicles and got another. Now, I am looking for another 10" L7, dual 4 ohm with the all black cone.

I have also had 3 sets of Kicker components and 2 Kicker amps over the years. What can I say, I love Kicker.

I think that about covers it.

You are right about the space. The 8" L7 will fit in basically a shoe box for crying out loud.

X2 do u read any car audio mags? There was something about a single kicker 8 L7 in a vented box that hit 147.8 DB. I didnt really believe until it was on the kicker website.

Did u check e-bay for a older L7. I was just checkin some stuff on there and I see 2 L5 10s going for price of one.

heres my list of kicker.
1-10 comp
1-15 XPL
1-15 comp vr
1-12 freeair which is still sitting in my closet
1- 12 L5
soon one 12 L7

I subscribe to Car Audio and Electronics, and Mobile Entertainment. I also read a couple of others as well. I do not remember seeing that about the 8" but, I would not doubt it.

I have my eye on a couple of the older L7's now. The auctions end today from someone in Tulsa. Which is 20 minutes from me. Hopefully that will work out. In order to make my new idea work, I am going to need to try 2 subs.

XPL is the only Kicker I never had. Except, that the Competition Cast that I had is basically built on the XPL frame with the Comp cone. It was an awesome sub.

Yep, that is the plan. A pair of 10" L7's run off the JL 500/1. Should sound pretty sweet.

you guys love kicker about as much as i love jl audio.. i have owned a couple of kicker subs in my life.. in my last car i had 2 kicker solo sd10's (the round ones)... with a 800w rockford amp... they sounded alright but after i head my buddied 2 10w3 ran off of a hifonics amp i became an instant jl audio lover.. the jl subs just seem to hit harder and cleaner to me.. and if you are really looking for bass you cant get much better than the w7.... just my opinion...

My only problem with the JL subs is the price. I mean, you can buy a pair of Kicker L7's for less than the price of one W7. And I just can not believe that one W7 will outperform a pair of L7's. One L7 versus one W7, no comparrison but, I just do not feel they are worth that much more money. Heck, even the new W6V2 is just priced too high in my opinion. I have said it before and I will stick by it. The Kicker L7's provide the most and best bass for the buck, hands down. This is just my opinion.

The JL w6v2 and the W7 are way overpriced. I mean yes the JL W7 can pound out many dual 12 systems, and has about 1.15 inch of one way excursion, but still $700 bucks aint worth it. If I had the money I would probally have a all JL system but Kicker has always gave me positive results. I wanna know how to compare sound quilty of a sub? I have heard 3 JL w3 and it was clean as my Solo L5 in a sealed box but not as loud.

The one Kicker L78 and 400.1 pounds hard in this truck. I was amazed at the performance very much.
