Question Changing a Navi Screen

I am getting ready to change the screen in my 99 TL . it is worn down. Does anyone know how to take off the dash board? I am also wondering , is all I have to do is plug the new one in, and will only a 99 do or could I use a 2000 screen. I want to do this myself not only for the education factore but I would like to save some money.

Should be fairly easy...to do so you have to remove the trim pieces around the navigation unit...no need to remove the whole dash...

is your unit defective or you just want to replace it... this sound like something you could have covered under warranty if it was defective but if you really want to do it yourself here ya go... simply remove the stearing column by removing the 3 screws on the bottom (there might only be 2 i dont remember off hand)... now remove the 2 screws on the top of the meter assymbly... then using your figure tips pull outward on the dash peice (i would start on the side towards the navi screen and work my way to the gauge side).... the peice should pop right out.... and then after you get this plastic peice out of the way the navi screen will be held on with 4 screws ( i think for maybe only 2 but you get the point)... and the navi screen should just plug in... unplug the old one plug in the new one... reattach everything and there you go...
