Changing amp in '05 TSX

I have a 2005 TSX w/o Nav. Does the stock system use a seperate amp? If so, where is it and can I just switch the amp? I do not want to add an amp where it can be seen. I already upgraded the speakers to Alpine S all the way around.

Yes, the stock unit uses a different amp. If you search the A/V section, you will find several threads detailing how to remove panneling to access it, and 2 very useful threads on DIY replacing the stock amp with an aftermarket amp. This will keep it all hidden, and you can mount it where the original amp was if you get a small enough one.

No offense kwp72, but i think there should be a new feature on this board where after you sign up in instantly takes you to the FAQ section, or at least recommends that all new members skim through it. A lot of people join this site for the sole purpose of asking questions that have been answered a million times and its a little frustrating to see the same subject lines and questions over and over.

And to kwp, yes you definitely should change out your amp, the stock sys sucks

I am new here yes. Am I new to forum rules, no. I DID search endlessly here and on other forums for the answer to my question and to find out how to access the amp with no result.

I think it's a little rude to assume I am an idiot that doesn't know how to search and then talk down to me.

What a nice welcome here.

P.S. jlukja.... thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction. I have been reading a lot of the topics here and you seem to be very helpful.
