Cell phone interference noises through radio??

Thanks for making such a great website on the internet!!

Anyway, a co-worker of mine has a '03 TLS. When she has her cell in the car with her, a weird sound comes through the speakers when the cell rings??????? Has anyone ever heard of this happening?

It NEVER happened in my 99, so what's the deal?????

Yeah, my Nokia 6190 does that to my 03 TL-S. Move it further away from the head unit and don't point the antenna toward it either.

Apparently the 02 and 03 have better radio reception than the 99-01 HU. That would explain the sensitivity to the cell phone.

usually this only happens with the nextel due to their frequency.....most of the time it happens when the phone is mounted near the radio on the dash or its left in the cupholder....try keeping it somewhere else...OR just learn to deal with it like everyone else....there is nothing you can do about it.

Check out the song "Somebody Answer The Phone" from Mario Piu....it's a dance song that samples the microwave interference on the amp.

yeah, happens all the time if my phone is near the radio in any car. i have a motorola v60, and i like when that happens, especially if the music is loud. it can also happen with home products too, like a computer

Its the tape head acting as an antenna. If you put your cell phone antenna right in friont if the tape slot it gets REALLY LOUD. Tape heads are good for picking up noise. I use to take old tape player heads and attach an amplified sepaker from Radio Shack to look for a quiet spot in the car to use as a ground.
