CDT CL-61s

I'm building a system for my father's car, a 03 TL, and i'm about to order front speakers. I don't want to spend days of fitting in his car so I want something that will fit with no or little work (grinding, adding spacers...)
My first choice for speakers is the CDT CL-61s speakers. I there anybody running these? the mounting diameter is 5-11/16" (euro/din standart 6½) and the mounting depth is 2-13/16. I read that the polk db650 are drop in, and their mounting depth are 2". I'm wondering if all I need is a 3/4" spacer to bolt them in the front doors, and if it will fit behind the grills.

If someone could tell me what is the stock mounting diameter, maximum depth and cleareance behind the grill, i would be really happy

thanx, Nic

torkguy,

I have the cl-61's in the front doors and they fit fine with a .75" spacer. I took out the stock speaker mounting bracket and made a wooden .75" spacer. They fit fine behind the speaker door grilles.

Let me know if you want to see any pics, I have em some where.

I would really appreciate to have some pics. in fact, I never took apart the TL doors so i have no idea what it look like. i'm pretty happy tough that they fit.

BTW, if you have any tips for me that might be helpful, don't be shy to share them. I want to get the non EQ-ed pre-amp signal from the HU to feed an amp, and drive front component and oem subwoofer with it, the rear speaker beign powered by the HU. Look like i'm gonna need to "part down" the bose system quite a bit, but i'm not affraid to splice into factory harness.

please send pictures to: metallibiker@hotmail.com

thanx, Nic
