Question Cassette adapter for iPod

Does anyone know of a iPod cassette adapter that works reliably with the OEM deck of an '02 TL without clicking? I'm happy playing my iPod this way but the two Sony cassette adapters that I have often click loudly, and sometimes the deck gets finicky and ejects them repeatedly. Has anyone had long-term success with a particular brand of adapter? If I can't find one that works well I guess I'll bite the bullet and shell out the bucks for an adapter that connects directly to the head unit.

i have an '01 CL Type-S with the OEM deck. I don't remember the brand of the cassette adapter I bought, but it works flawlessly.

A ray of hope! If you have a chance, please let me know what brand it is.

Just install an iPod interface. With the cassette adapter not only are you using 1980s technology, youre seriously sacrificing your sound quality. Plus no steering wheel controls as well. It's an easy install that you won't regret.

I've had 2 different ones in my CL. Both the cheapest ones that I could find locally. Have never had an issue with them other than the first cord wearing out after a year or so. But for $8 I had no issue with that happening.

I used one when I first bought the CL. It worked well. Maybe your tape deck needs to be cleaned?

I dont even know if they sell tape deck cleaners anymore

How much control do the steering wheel buttons give you over an iPod? I can't imagine this functionality is all that useful.

The tape deck seems to be clean--I recently tested it with a tape and it sounded fantastic.

You can control the volume. Everything else is done via iPod.

Hey i had the same problem in my 00 TL. Your best bet to get great sound quality would be to get a FM transmitter. They cost just as much as the adapter but there wireless and easier to use.

Or buy the blitzsafe adapter & get a real Ipod input with charging....

I had used a MONSTER brand cassette adapter very reliably in my 01-TL with both an XM radio and an iPod/iPhone for several years until recently. Now the tape deck wont accept the adapter, or any cassette tapes for that matter, it just switches directions a few times and spits the tape back out. I'm thinking it might just need a good cleaning, but I'd rather just use this malfunction to justify installing a new head unit with iPod/iPhone control and Bluetooth connectivity.

I just bought a 2003 CL on June 25th 2012. among a few issues, i'll cut right to the point raising the issue you are having too Opus9. Unfortunately, i have no solution, because i too am looking for one. and i am trying to avoid buying a new head unit, at least for a few months. (might have to resort to old technology and use CD's)

Speaking of old technology, something older in fact. i am also using a new "Monster cassette adaptor" for my smart phone (Android), but that is not the problem. - i get a "TA-Er" error message when i try to use the adaptor, it doesn't lock in, and it just springs it right back out, i actually launched it out once (okay a few times it was funny, the cassette adaptor flew over the shifter). Does anyone have any solutions to this problem?

i just want to listen to Pandora ya know? heh. someone mentioned an "aux in" to hook up and go through where the "external" 6-disc changer would hook up (i have an 6-disc internal head unit) is it possible?

i won't give up hope, i have already unlocked the anti-theft with the code given to me from Acura. i even persuaded the CD player, to kindly eject the two cd's that were trapped within when i bought the car, before the CD player wouldn't work either, but a nice gentile tap coaxed them out one at a time. ...okay i smacked the sh!t out of it. lol so i know there has to be a way to put the cassette player back in working condition.

thanks for your help, anyone? btw "3pk1" is on the upper right of the cassette door.
