Car went in today!
My car finally went into the shop today to have everything installed. I should be picking it back up sometime on Saturday. 3 1/2 days for the install. Gah!! But it should sound damn good once I get it back. Here's the list of what I finally ended up with:
Nakamichi CD700 head unit
Nakamichi MB70 6disc in-dash changer
Focal Utopia 165W 6.5" components
Brax X2000 amp (190x2) for the components
Eclipse 88120DVC subs (2 of them)
JBL BP1200.1 amp for the subs (1200x1)
Illuminations (made by Kimber Kable) D60 .5m digital interconnect to connect the CD700 & MB70 (will bypass the dac in the MB70 & use the CD700 dacs)
Kimber Kable 4tc speaker wire for components & subs
Kimber Kable Hero interconnects for the Brax amp
Kimber Kable PBJ interconnects for the JBL amp
They will be building enclosures in the doors for the Focals as I have no room for kicks unless I remove my left leg. New battery will be going in, caps if needed, Dynomat for the trunk lid at least, if not the side panels also. A bit will be used on the doors also, how much will depend on if the door rattles after the enclosure is done.
It should be interesting.

Just called the shop to check on the progress. They had no trouble fitting the Utopias in the doors. They did have to slightly modify the bracket to fit the tweeters in though. 2" tweets. Jeez. They'll be doing the amp racks & finishing up the trunk tomorrow. It should be good.

Hey Patryn,
How much did your cables end up costing you? How much of each wire did you need? Also, please let me know if you have any problems with the Nak CD-700/MB70 (skipping, not playing certain discs, jamming...). As I have told you before, my system will be similar to yours, just trying to work out the last few details Thanks

Kimber Hero 5m was $293
Kimber PBJ 6m was $161 w/WBT connectors
Illuminations D60 .5m was $140
Kimber 4tc - I have a 17ft pair and a 10ft pair - total was ~$340
I'm picking it up today so I'll play with it more then.

Using Silver Streak could get expensive. A 3m length of that is $560 retail, let along a 5 meter run. You're almost into the Kimber Select price range then.

I use to work for Nakamichi Canada...the CD700 is a decent head unit, but it had problems recognizing burned cd's. The CD700 essentially has mostly Sony guts and laser, with a bit of Nak parts.
