Can't get to CD-C with aux adapter

Okay, I've looked around and haven't seen anyone with this problem really. Maybe I am missing some threads somewhere?

Jfink had this problem once apparently but then it went away, read his post about it here: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...highlight=cd-c

So anyway, I'm trying to use the SNHOND3 to let me play my iPod directly through the TSX radio.

I pulled out the storage bin and clipped in the harness to the bottom of the radio.

Then I tried pressing the "CD/AUX" button to get to the CD-C display. Nothing. I can only listen to CDs!

I've tried every possible combination of things, such as, powering the radio on/off before/after connecting the SNHOND3, turning my car on/off. I even disconnected the battery to reset the radio. No luck. I can't access the CD-C!

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why my radio isn't detecting this conneciton and letting me switch to CD-C?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions. I'm stumped...

I've pressed it a million times! It won't do anything but stay playing CDs.

It's dead, Jim.

Or your SHOND is no bueno por caca. I would test the wires with a voltmeter to see if it's getting power and/or ground...

Yeah I'm working on borrowing a voltmeter to test out the SNHOND to see if it is in fact working. That's gotta be my guess as to what is broken here.

I can't really see the thing being broken though, it's just wires and a board. And everything looks good...

I'll let you know the results!

Hmm, so Logjam said it's possible the unit could be defective and they are shipping me a new one as soon as more come in. Of course, there is a patent dispute about the product and there might not be any sold for awhile?

I took a voltmeter to it and everything looks to be good, except maybe a possible soldering problem, but it's on the part that goes to the CD-changer out on the board, so I dunno.

I guess I'll just wait for another and see if that fixes the problem. At this point, that's all I got.

Does anyone have a clear shot of the bottom of the radio? In one fuzzy pic I saw it looked like there was some sort of hole right near where the adapter plugs in? I'm doing the install without taking my radio out, so I can't really see too well down there...

This thread has some photos: http://www.webspan.net/~nsw/iPod_install/
Use adapter name on dogpile.com or google to find more install photos.

yeah in this pic: http://www.webspan.net/~nsw/iPod_install/Pages/7.html

there is a hole right next to where the adapter plugs in. i was thinking that it might some sort of switch to allow the radio to recognize the adapter or something...

i guess i'll try to conact acura and see if they can give me any help...

Okay I got a new SNHOND from Logjam and tried to install it, but I still wasn't able to get to CD-C with this one either. So it doesn't seem to be a problem with the adapter, or anything after the adapter I would think.

The thing is, my radio blacked out a few months ago and I recently got it replaced. Is it a possibility that when they put a new radio (or whatever they do, I don't know) they didn't hook something up?

What I'm wondering is if anyone knows if there is some sort of cable that runs from the radio to where you plug the AUX adapter in, and perhaps this connection isn't there? Or is the AUX connector directly a part of the radio unit?

My guess would be the AUX connection is bad on your radio/HU. Take to dealer and have them test it.

There is nothing wrong with the radio or the AUX adaptor. The TL doesnt work the same as the TSX. When you use the 2 port adaptor. You will get sound out of either your XM or other source and not both. The TL system for some reason doesnt realize it. I-MOD had to do a little modification to it. He had to run another switch to it to have the sound jump from XM to other source.
