camera system and TV

Has anyone been considering how to get the optional camera system that's available in Japan on the Inspire to hook up with my nav system? Is it even possible? And can you hook up a regular DVD or TV module to view through the OEM nav screen?

The spoiler mounted camera works through the TV tuner which the US TL's don't have. The tuner has a bunch of things going for it. First plug it in and forget, no splicing. Also it has aux video inputs. Finally you can run the inspire TV ant. with it which has two ant. that run up to the rear window. There is also a front monitoring system which will show images from the front left/right side of the car on the navi screen. Images are dispayed from the left and right at the same time or right / left seperately. System is very expensive.

I think you need the tuner too to get it working.

The spoiler didn't come with a control box like you get with a indash tv monitor??? The kit should have it along with 3 cables to patch in the spoiler into the navi/tv tuner. If you don't have them, then I see you problem!!

I don't think he has it, I think he is wondering if it is possible which I bet it is just that no one has tried yet.

Well we are going to try and make it possible. Nighthawkblack and Valuetl I really would like your help on this matter. How do I go about even getting prices on any of the Inspire TV tuner, antenna, front monitoring system and camera. Valuetl you said that the TVtuner has input jacks does that mean you can hook up a DVD player or is there a way to alter the OEM navi system to play regular DVD's?

Mucho dinero huh...Hmmm so where and how do I begin this venture

I know the inspire tv tuner has aux plugs (3) just like a VCR or TV for inputs. I'm planning on talking with Honda of Japan and see if our Navi units have the same cabling so if I order these tuners they will work for sure.

Valuetl thanks a bunch for looking into this. I will be looking forward to learn more about purchasing the TV tuner with available aux hook ups. Please give a pm or more info on how I can get into contact for these items/more info.

Bad news. Seems the navi is setup different on the inspires. It has a totally different button arrangement with one of them being used for tv operations. Only way would be splice into our existing cables to get it to work. Not fun. I know streeteffectz has been working on custom tuners. Give him a shout.

Its their navi head unit in the trunk thats different. You could convert to their system, buy the harnesses and plug and play but you will not find a english DVD with USA coverage for their system
