I have the same problem, let me know how it works out. We know you definently can't stop the AC when its on defrost, but what bugs me about having it coming on whenver the fan is turned on is that the AC indicator does'nt come on either you have to press the AC button to physically see if its off.

Yeah I dont know if you can stop A/C from coming on since it's 'Auto' Climate Control...if the system senses the temperature in the car is above your predetermined temperature then it's going to automagically turn on your A/C?

I just hit my A/C button when I want my A/C turned off...

mmmm, let me explain; if you turn the unit off, the next time you turn it on either by just hit the fan or other way, the A/C will automatically start, regardless the temp inside. the only time it won't, is leave the system A/C off when shut off the engine, when you restart the engine it will start automatically without A/C on. A/C shall be operated when engine warm up, and each time when A/C is on, it shall stay on for at least 3-5 minutes, and i felt turn it on/off all the time is not the best practice.....

this is very annoying, A/C shall stay off until engine reach operation temperature, and i don't want it to draw un-necessary power. it even worst in winter, here in Canada that morning start already put strain on battery and engine, so i definite don't want A/C, but the only way is to leave the unit with A/C off when i shut off the engine, so A/C won't kick in if i re-start the engine but it will slow my engine warm up time or send freeze air to me in cabinet since engine collant is freeze. either way is issue need a solution.

Why not just leave it off until the engine is warm?
If you are worried about getting cold air when it's cold outside just set the temperature high and NOTHING not even the fan will come on until the engine can provide air sufffiently warm enough to maintain that set temperature.
