A/C functions on Navi Screen without DVD drive?

I am looking to upgrade my interior and can get my hands on a Navi screen and the under-Navi AC controls. If I just install the screen and the AC unit could I have the touch screen AC control capabilities without having the navi DVD drive along with it? thanks guys

i think he just wants the screen for looks and a/c control. not for navigation in any way.
but i'm not sure if it'll work without that whole unit.

me either... i know my AC controls worked when my OEM hard disc fried.... but without the navi unit.. i think all the screen would do is sit there with a "no signal" screen...

if your only doing it for the ac controls.. just get a double din for the looks and use the buttons you have for AC... pointless buying a NAVI screen with no navi...

i am buying a double din unit anyways, but i thought that if i had the possibility of getting these and adding the touch screen AC controls it would be cool, but if it's not going to work i'll just keep it as is

the screen will not come on at all if you dont have the dvd unit plug in the trunk.. trust me cause when i was doing the navi to mines i had everything hooked up except the dvd drive unit in the trunk and the screen was black no signal at all.. the buttoms would lite up when i had my lights on.. but thats all.. i thought i had a defective tv...but once i got the dvd drive plug it in.. screen came on which allowed me to use the A/C touch screen controls..

hope that helps..
