Anyone with a lease have any experience with an effective bass upgrade? Problem is I dont see why such a wimpy system was put into a car of this caliber. Every other bose I know of has any where from 200 to 400 watts. The sub is ok but I guess the biggest purpose is to fill out the sound. It supposedlyaccording to bose has 100 watts. If you stick your head in the trunk the sound really booms although not much of that really makes it into the passenger area. My 01 civic has 30 watts per channel factory stock and I dont understand why they put 12 watts standard on a bose, it doesnt make sense. Any suggestions on simple upgrades besides I really cant take everything out and replace. Probably just stuck with it.

The sub on TL is rated at 100W but the catch is it operates at 0.5 Ohm. It is equivalent to powering a 4 Ohm sub with 25W. The worst part of the acura's stereo is the sub. It sucks big time !!!

If you don't plan to spend a lot of money on the stereo. I would suggest swapping the factor sub with an aftermarket sub. There are only a few free-air subs out there that might fit into the stock position. The one that I use is Kicker RMB8 mid bass sub. The kicker is the mid bass sub, so don't expect the Kicker to give you loud boom but it will give you tighter and cleaner bass than the crappy stock sub.

Why not get an aftermarket sub in your trunk like 1 12" or something, that way you can take it out when the lease is done, and the Tl trunk is pretty big so it shouldnt take up too much room.

A lease eh? Then you don't want a permanent upgrade. I suggest for just bass a small box...maybe a 10" or so, with an amp embedded in it and a cooling fan through the embedded amp rack. Good portable solution that can be easily removed. As for the speakers...there is no good portable solution. The easiest would be a 400W (100Wx4 @ 4 ohms) and 2 sets of JL XR525CX coaxials...those are drop ins with zero modifications...and will give you better soundQ.

That comparison is really not that accurate actually bud, because the magnetic force driving your speakers is proportional to the current change...not the total wattage or resistance. Most amps aren't even linear with resistance changes...because high power field effect transistors don't change linearly with load resistances.
