Bose compatible

I'm looking into buying a double din nav head unit for my 03 CL-S but someone told me in order to install the head unit i would have to run all new speakers through my car is that true? And if so are there aftermarket double din nav units that are compatible with the factory Bose speakers?

I made a thread about this as well, it's just a few spaces down.

If I get a response, I'll let you know. All I know right now is you either get new speakers or buy an adapter to help with the wiring, I believe.

buy the pac-soem4 interface & you'll be able to mate up any aftermarket HU to factory wiring harness. pretty simple hookup. i just went thru all of this about a month ago.

no rewiring was needed, just had to jump the amps remote wire to the 12v acc wire from harness.

I recently installed a double din and whoever told you that couldn't be further from the truth. All you're gonna need is a dash harness which you can get on ebay for $5. This connects to the back of the double din and connects through a plug to the factory everything (speakers, amp, etc) As for the nav add on module, I can't comment on that as I didn't add nav, but you may need to run an antenna for that which would be the only difference. To sum up, all you need is: the unit itself, a dash harness, and the dash kit (metra, or something comparable). Hopefully my response wasn't too late

The problem with using just a harness is you are now sending a speaker level output from a more than likely high power radio to an amplifier. You will eventually damage the factory amplifier. Using the SOEM-4 you can reduce the speaker level to line level and avoid any chances of the Bose amplifier producing engine whine. You can also purches a harness made for the RSX that has RCAs made by Metra instead of speaker wires, but like I mentioned before, you might end up with some unwanted sound.
