Blitzsafe for '01 CL-S

Quick question.

In searching the forums, it seems that I can install the Blitzsafe DMX V.1 and hook up my MP3 players in the Aux spot - to be played as CD1.

However, reading THIS LINK it seems that this will not work with the factory 6 disk in dash.

Anyone had any luck using this?

Hi. The blitzsafe adapter plugs in where the OEM cd changer plugs in--it's one or the other, I'm afraid.

Ok - to make sure I follow. Our factory head unit does not actually contain the CD changer portion? That's an additional hook up in the back? This is the first time I've ever had an indash changer so I was unsure how it works.

What about some of the splitters that seem to be out there? Would I be able to use that so I could hook up both the MP3 and the Changer?

The 6-disc is built into the head unit(HU).. All the discs go in and come out of the HU..

There is a extra auxillary input plug in the back of the factory radio.. You would connect the Blitzsafe in there.. Once you have the MP3 hooked into the Blitzsafe you would hit the CD button twice to access the MP3 player/auxillary input..

Hopefully this answers your question..

^^ Now I'm a little more confused. DerrickM said that the in dash changer has a plug in to the back of the HU and now you're saying there isn't?

I finally cracked open the Helms but that didn't help. It says that there are 2 Audio Unit Connectors that go in to the back of the HU. Would the second (smaller) one be for the Nav if I had it? I believe that's where the Blitzsafe would plug in, but I don't want to spend the $$ if that plug is already used.

I said "There IS" a extra plug in the back..

There are 3 plugs back there.. They only show 2 in the Helms manual b/c those are the ones used..

This is all Plug n Play (PnP) you are making it more difficult then it is.. <-- Not being rude but it's alot easier then it's making out to be..

There are 3 plugs in the back..
(2 grouped together for the stock harness and a seperate one to the passenger side)

2 are used by the stock wiring harness..

The extra plug is a auxillary plug in the back for the Blitzsafe..

Don't know how to better explain it..
