Beware of USA SPEC iPod Adapters!!!!

I purchased a USA SPEC iPod interface about two years ago. Well the unit crapped out and after checking all the connections I borrowed a friends unit which worked fine in my car. I noticed that I could get the unit to work for a second when I toggled and wiggled the first dip switch, but other than that I got no sound. I temporarily am using the audio output jacks to listen to the iPod, but I get no steering wheel controls or charging functions that way.

Anyhow, my warranty card says that the unit is warrantied for three years, so I call them up and they told me that the unit is only warrantied for one year unless it was installed by a dealer. I told him that my warranty card doesn't say that anywhere but I got nowhere.

So buyer beware! My unit crapped out within the warranty period and they didn't honor the warranty.

Wait, you bought it and then installed it yourself? The part came with a manufacturer warranty document stating it was covered for 3 years from date of purchase?

Me smells fraud. Read the warranty document(s) word for word. You may be in the right, and they're just putting up a smoke screen to avoid covering it.

Mine has started to act up too... sounds kicks out on the left speakers then kicks back in. I'm contemplating opening the darn thing up and seeing if it's a loose solder connection since I'm out of warranty.

if you feel like attempting to fix the unit, you could try resoldering the DIP switch connections to the board. If that doesn't work, you could replacing the switch. Look at http://www.digikey.com/ for parts.
