Best way to splice heavy gauge wire?
How do you guys splice together 2 pieces of heavy guage wire?
I've tried various different things over the years and never come up with anything I thought worked terribly well.
Let's say you have 8 gauge wire...

Retired. Not available.
when you said splice 2 wires, you meant connect them as one right? If this is the case, they have some huge connectors (up to 4 gauge). All you have to do is remove the insulation, stick the bare wire in the connector then use a vise or a hammer to crimp it.

I use a Western Union Splice. Pics near the bottom of the link. You can solder it to improve the physical strength and electrical continuity of the connection.

Three Wheelin'
What I do is put them end to end and soilder the connections and use Heat Shrink Tubing over the wires and touch the ends up with Liquid Electrical Tape for a perfect seal.
