Best Sub Under $200

Hey guys, wats the best 12" sub you can get on a budget? or perhaps a higher end 10"?

i have 2 12"s in my car right now with a big box but im gettin tired of the ridiculous bass, i listen to hip hop and rock. i guess im looking for a cleaner sound with less rumbling

thanks for readin!

how much power are you going to be feeding this single sub? also, how much space are you willing to give up?

I have a 10JLW3 but if I had to upgrade I would consider W7's...

There was someone here in the Bay Area selling some about a month ago...I think $300-350 for the pair.

JL W3 or W6 for your budget, I would recommend a 10" with a properly built box. Also look into Elemental Designs, great stuff for pretty cheap

for some reason the first sub that came to my mind was the tc sounds OEM, but I think was only available for a limited time and might be hard to get your hands on.

I've heard mach5 audio subs like the IXL are a good budget sub.
If you have less power and want more SQ, there's always the IDQ
the SI mag is like $250, but might be the best mix of both. At least I've heard the new one is supposed to more geared to SQ.
I think Fi Q's would also be like $250, but a pretty good sub.

also what subs are you running now? have you considered building a different box to change the sound if that's what you're after. If you're looking to have a smaller box and tighten up the bass, maybe build something smaller, or run just one of the pair?

I am content with my JLW3 in ported box.

It takes up a lot of space in my trunk but sound is great for one sub.

I just put a 12" and a 500w mono amp in my brothers car it bumps when you need it, but is still clean and smooth.

i got a lot of replies, ok the main reason im doing this is because of weight, i had my car at a 1-2 finger gap but lowered it even more for a meet. i fell in love with the stance so i dont want to raise it again, but now im rubbing

i'll take some pics for you guys cuz i really dont know much about audio but there two sony xplods (the red ones, i kno i kno sony sucks supposedly but i got the two twelves for 80 bucks), they'll be up tomorow. todays my BIRTHDAY WOOT!

maybe a Sundown Audio E8? the subs go for about $100, and put it in a T-line enclosure... You could run it on ~100rms, and from everything I've heard about them, they're amazing subs...

getting a custom box made for 1 8 wouldn't be worth it imo

Not get one built, build it yourself... They really aren't that hard to build... Here's an example, not for an E8, but for a massive audio 8

the idea is that it's super efficient, so you don't need anywhere near the power when compared to something like a standard ported box...

I'm trying to get my hands on one of the new SAZ-2000d's... They're still on order, Jacob hasn't even gotten them yet... He's expecting them end of June... I'd have to trade in my current Orion 1200d and send in cash to get the pre-order price, but I might just do it once I get some more money flowing... Sundown amps are supposed to be super efficient, so it should be a nice addition...

That's what I'm finding out... I'm supposed to be getting a new dust cap once Steve gets the new heavy weight DC's in... When I bought the sub (used, but fortunately from a great seller) the DC was on its way out, so the guy I bought from is buying me a new one. I already have a guy here locally that's going to take the sub apart, and make sure everything's just peachy with all the inner workings and everything, then put the new DC on. Just waiting on steve to send me the new one, and things will be great...

what size BL you going to be running?

Happy Birthday!

I had #2 12" Explodes like 10 years ago when it was merging with Mobile ES and they were awesome.

I sold then after 2 years to a friend when I moved to another state and from what I know they are still working and in use.

Nevertheless...I was impressed by that.

so far these subs have been suggested in this thread

infinity sub
alpine type r
JL W3 or W6
Elemental Designs
RE SE
Sundown Audio E8
mach5 audio subs like the IXL
IDQ
the SI mag
Fi Q's

this is why i get confused when looking for subs, there are so many and i dont kno what the difference is between them

basically what i want to do is sell what i have now and replace it with the new setup without any extra money

^ They buy them from little audio trolls!

Your best bet is to just to keep researching because there are tons of brands the average consumer know nothing about.

Exactly...so then your best bet would be to try to go into one of your local shops.

I have some good shops around me that carry the real quality "not so popular" brands...

I had to go on internet reviews & other people's advice when I have bought car audio gear in the past.
