Best Sub Under $200

a lot of those mentioned are almost purely internet companies. Internet companies can keep costs down without having to pay shops, advertise, and stuff. I haven't set foot in an physical shop in years.
I know high quality physical shops have been hurting these days, especially because of all the chop shops that undercut buisness, and ebay and other online shops that sell stuff unauthorized. I personally feel bad for shops, as they do have to cover their costs and i know a lot had to go under. I think it's really hard to find a good knowledgable shop these days, one that you can really trust. I'd definitely research a lot online, just so you know you aren't getting ripped off if you decide to go to a shop.
I think SoundSolutionsAudio has their own branded stuff, and deal a lot of other smaller companies like mach5 and sundown. I think StereoIntegrity and Fi you can order directly through the website and they build their drivers to order. I also like a lot of these smaller companies, as you can pretty much email the owner, and a lot of them are enthusiasts and are happy to provide guidance and can tell you pretty much every single nut and bolt about their product.

^thanks for the info
seems like SI, RE and FI are well respected subs
im liking the SI since its a "shallow mount" sub meaning less weight and smaller box, however the price is kinda up there
http://stereointegrity.com/mag.php
the RE seems to be the cheapest of the three, the specs are:

Bolt Hole Circle - 11.75"
Motor Width - 6.25"

the FI comes with dual voice coils in either 1 ohm or 2 ohm variations and is also up there on price

The inductance on the new Mag is 0.8 mH. Our previous Mag was 3.5mH. Most high-power subwoofers range from 2.5 mH to 4 mH. Just look back over those figures for a little bit. 0.8 mH compared to an average low of 2.5 mH. The reduction of inductance we were able to achieve with the new Mag will give you blending and imaging like no other subwoofer out there.
The reduction of inductance has one major draw-back though; it makes the Mag very detailed and very critical. The Mag D2 will probably play back information you aren't accustomed to hearing.

wow, i haven't read any reviews of the v4. Sounds like they completely went towards sq. I just browsed that thread you posted, but sounds like it's grabbing comparisons to the DIYMA sub.
just be sure that transparent subs are what you are looking for. I know there were a few people that bought the DIYMA subs who are used to normal subs and were disappointed cause they thought they'd at least have some thump to them.
I kinda want to try out the SI mags too or even the baby mag once that comes out, but I'm trying to get most of my bass from my mids anyways. I also have a pair of TC2+ and exile audio subs sitting in my closet that I haven't even tried using yet.

I really like my Image Dynamics ID10v3. Got it for $160 from my local dealer and have been impressed. It sounds great in all ranges of music, and can get low when you need it. I have it installed in a small sealed box in the trunk because I didn't want to sacrifice much trunk space.

Whats up with RDX owners?

I've had good luck with Infinity speakers, and the prices aren't bad.

Really? I've had the Reference components and the Kappa Perfects. I've also had the Basslink and all were damn good for the money spent. I've not had a sub from them but from the reviews I've seen they seem pretty good.

what does that mean?
Looks like you got a technical reply from the owner, Nick. Very simplistically speakin', if you put a coil (inductor) in series w/ say a woofer it will act as a lowpass filter limiting the high frequencies. Well the speaker itself has a coil (voice coil) so the higher the woofer's inductance the less high it will play cleanly. If you have a sub that can play up well say to 100 or 150hz you can then take the strain off your midbasses by raising the highpass. Since the sub plays up high in frequency well it will be easier to blend and combined w/ good transient response it will be extremely difficult to localize making all the bass appear to come from your front stage, rather from your trunk. You generally end up w/ better midbass punch and a cleaner midrange.
Compliments to your choice on the SI Magv4 as it is a superb SQ sub w/ pretty high output capability. Just keep in mind that it is the antithesis of a 'boom' sound as the sound is extremely tight and clean. And if you are truly after sound quality, the performance of your system is only as good as its overall execution with install>>>parts.

$250 brand new... That's going to be one of your best bets though... Maybe a Sundown SAE-1000D... Here's a link for that one: http://www.db-r.com/sell/store2/inde...th=65_67_69_79
